Copywriting
One way or another, I’ve always worked with words. As a copywriter, storyteller, spokesperson and speechwriter, I’ve supported organisations to develop their brands, protect their reputations and connect people to their causes for over 15 years.
Above everything – and always motivated by my desire to use words to drive change – I love telling stories that make a difference. And, to do so most authentically, I rely on my human ideas and experiences alone, without Generative AI ✌🧠
Nice and Serious
I’m a copywriter for B Corp creative agency Nice and Serious. We work with international brands, organisations and charities that are committed to making a difference to the planet and all its people.
Films and animations
Working with an incredible team, I wrote this animation to communicate the global problem of child-family separation for this international charity:
With young campaigners, I wrote a short film for the charity Global Action Plan, calling for surveillance advertising to under 18s to be banned:
I was the lead copywriter for WHO’s flagship hepatitis awareness campaign, devising messaging, social media copy and scripting two animations.
Welcome Every Woman
I loved working on this flagship campaign for the incredible charity, Women for Refugee Women, including scripting the video below:
I scripted this short film to promote Luminate’s ten-point plan to #ReclaimOurRights and reign in the unchecked influence of big tech companies. The film was screened at the 2023 Nobel Prize Summit.
Other Nice and Serious work
Social media campaign copywriting for Tony’s Chocolonely
Teach First (2016-2022)
As the education charity’s in-house copywriter, I brought the brand to life using words in:
explainer animations
promotional videos (here’s part one and part two of a recruitment campaign I scripted)
policy reports
stories and case studies
I also devised and delivered a range of training sessions for staff and led on the organisation’s style guide. Here’s a selection of my work for the charity:
The Guardian
From 2009 to 2016 I was the Guardian’s PR manager, working closely with journalists and editors to promote our brand and journalism internationally. I was the newspaper’s primary editorial spokesperson, defending the Guardian's reputation during some of its most high-profile stories. This included the Pulitzer Prize-winning Edward Snowden investigation, the internationally renowned phone-hacking scandal and the groundbreaking WikiLeaks revelations. I also wrote promotional material, including reader updates in the printed newspaper, video scripts and press releases.
